Hell exists and there is no need to prove it, because many believe in it, and the Holy Scriptures speak clearly about it in several places.
What kind of place it is can be seen from the words of the pious Job, who says: Let me rejoice a little before I go on the journey of no return, to the land of darkness, the land of the shadow of death, to the land of thick darkness and turmoil, where the light is like the blackest night. (Job 10:20-22).
After observing Hell, the pious Job describes it in detail and sadly. He calls it a dark place, or a miserable land that is full of trouble and where there is nothing good and beautiful but only disorder, misfortune and eternal horror. The question arises, who would like to live in such a land, or who would not be seized by fear at the very thought of ending up in such a terrible place of eternal torment?
Therefore, before we consider the horrors of Hell, let us ask for the grace of God that the good and merciful God may enlighten our minds and grant us the saving fear of Hell.
When we speak of Hell, we are obliged to consider its eternal horrors that are reserved for sinners who have not repented, that is, eternally damned people, and the first horror is hellfire.

Hellfire
The Lord Jesus Christ testifies that there is eternal fire in Hell, when he said to the damned: Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41).
So, in Hell there is a fire in which the damned must burn for all eternity. What a terrible torment it is, no man on earth can imagine or express.
Of all the torments in this world that can even be imagined, none is greater, stronger, or more terrible than the torment caused by fire. The torments of beatings, crucifixions, and the cutting of limbs are terrible, but they cannot be compared to the torment of fire, which is completely unbearable and inhuman.
If a person even touches red-hot iron, what torment is that, that is, what pain and tearing!? At the same moment, the skin falls off and the red flesh is revealed, and the most terrible pain runs through the bones and marrow, that is, the nerves.
If this is done only by momentary touching of red-hot iron, what happens only when a person is forced to hold his hand on that iron for several hours. How could he then hold on and bend, that is, twitch, tremble, and writhe in terrible torment?
It is quite clear that he would scream out loud from the unspeakable pain and look like a madman!
If unspeakable pain is produced by a fire that lasts for a few hours, what happens when it lasts longer? If earthly fire produces unbearable torment, what will the eternal fire of hell do that God has kindled in his wrath to punish wicked sinners?
St. John also testifies to this eternal fire of hell in the Revelation with the words: Whoever worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand will also drink the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out into the cup of his indignation. He will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb (Rev. 14:9-10).
Do not these terrible words tell sinners quite clearly that hellfire exists and that damned people will suffer terrible and unspeakable torments in this eternal fire of brimstone?
Therefore, most good God, enlighten all blind sinners who are running towards their misery and ruin. Make these blinded and unreasonable fools wise and aware of their great folly and the terrible torments that await them in the other world. Grant that they may reflect on this aright and that this reflection may be for the salvation of their immortal souls. Amen!
